7, swallowed a bead. Had continuous cough; much pain under middle
of sternum. The bead moved upward and downward in respiration.
Tracheotomy. Four days afterward she coughed the bead out, inspired
once, and apparently died. Artificial respiration used; alcohol
injected into rectum; galvanization of phrenic nerves. She finally
coughed up a piece of thick mucus and recovered.
